Backend Development Team Lead

Action Engine is seeking a Backend Development Team Lead to drive the design and implementation of our backend systems - powering cloud portals used by customers, internal tools that support company scaling, and observability platforms for thousands of deployed devices. You will lead a small but highly capable team of backend engineers, shaping architecture, ensuring scalability and reliability, and mentoring developers to deliver exceptional results.

• Lead the backend development team - define technical vision, set priorities, and ensure delivery excellence;
• Architect, build, and operate the next generation of the backbone for our services architecture;
• Design scalable APIs and backend services for customer-facing and internal applications;
• Build and operate CI/CD pipelines for both physical devices and cloud services;
• Implement infrastructure as code to manage large-scale AWS deployments;
• Champion best DevOps and SRE practices across the engineering organization.
• Work cross-functionally to gather requirements, align stakeholders, and develop effective solutions;
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement;
• Take ownership of system reliability, incident prevention, and remediation processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field;
• 6+ years of backend development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or team lead role;
• Proficiency in Python;
• Strong experience with CI/CD;
• Deep understanding of relational, time-series, and document databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.);
• Proven track record of building and maintaining scalable distributed systems;
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a technical team;
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset;
• Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment.

• Experience integrating computer vision or IoT systems on hardware devices;
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes);
• Background in automotive, robotics, or real-time systems.
