This role sits in Lisbon, and we're looking for candidates already based in Portugal or within Europe, willing to relocate (relocation provided).
The Role:
We're looking for a passionate and technically strong Tech Lead ML Engineer to build and scale the AI Core Platform powering all core AI initiatives.This person will play a pivotal role in designing shared infrastructure to support multiple LLM-based use cases across the company — enabling teams to move faster, deliver exceptional experiences, and operate securely and at scale.
What You Will Do:
- Design, build, and evolve a common AI Core Platform supporting all conversational AI use cases.
- Architect scalable systems to orchestrate LLM agents, manage evaluation frameworks, and ensure consistent, high-quality AI experiences.
- Define shared interfaces, frameworks, and evaluation tools for product teams consuming AI capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with the Software Engineering Platform team to ensure deep integration, security, and reliability.
- Lead the technical direction of the AI platform, making key decisions on architecture, tools, and vendor integrations.
- Act as a hands-on technical leader, mentoring and guiding a growing team.
- Ensure robust, secure, and scalable deployment of LLMs and AI services across the organization.
You Will Be Great If You Have:
- 7+ years of combined experience in Software Engineering, Data, ML, or AI, with strong foundations in software architecture.
- Proven experience building ML or AI platforms — from orchestration to deployment and monitoring.
- Strong command of distributed systems, MLOps, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, or agentic frameworks, and integrating them into production environments.
- Solid experience leading technical direction or small engineering teams, fostering collaboration and excellence.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution — designing scalable frameworks while writing production-grade code.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and data.
- Fluency in English.
- Based in Lisbon or willing to relocate to Portugal (relocation support provided).
