We're looking for an outstanding head of people and HR to structure and run the "people engine" at Fastbreak AI, bringing modern HR and human capital practices to life across the company.
Fastbreak is a rapidly growing leader in sports operations technology. Our products power professional sports leagues like the NBA, MLS, NHL as well as fast-growing amateur sports organizations around the world. We're tripling growth and looking for our first Head of People.
The ideal candidate will design the strategy, systems and operating rhythms that help each of our teams do their best work. You'll report to the CEO and partner with business unit leaders across our pro sports, amateur sports, and participant activation divisions. This is a director or senior director position, with a path to VP of People as the company scales.

What You'll Do
- Oversee recruiting: We're hiring in all areas, from engineering to sales to accounting. You'll co-manage sourcing programs, manage our ATS to build a talent pipeline.
- Manage Onboarding: Standardize onboarding to create a consistent experience that ramps new hires quickly and connects them to the company's mission, teammates, and our execution-oriented culture.
- Culture and leadership: Codify a talent feedback program, coach managers on people-management skills, and provide career guidance for employees
- Career paths and performance: Define career paths for individual contributors and manager tracks, a feedback cadence, and culture around execution
- Post-acquisition integration: Partner with leaders to evaluate org design, select and retain the right people, and deliver 30, 60, 90 day integration plans
- People analytics: Build operational dashboards for hiring velocity, hire success, and employee engagement to optimize team effectiveness.
- Advisory to the Leadership Team: Provide sound guidance on team structure, employee challenges and organizational decisions
- Assessments: Use cognitive and personality assessments, such as Big Five, Predictive Index, or MBTI, and apply to improve team fit and diversity of thought
- Compensation. Own compensation planning, equity guidelines and market reviews. Partner with Finance on budgeting and variable pay design tied to measurable outcomes
- People Systems. Manage our HRIS and ATS systems and deliver dashboards on hiring velocity, ramp time, engagement, and retention
Requirements
- 10+ years in talent, people, or organizational development, including 3+ years leading a people or talent strategy function
- SHRM-SCP or HRCI SPHR certification preferred
- Strong employee relations judgment with working knowledge of US employment law across multiple states (+Canada preferred)
- Startup experience is required
- Excellent communicator, comfortable moving from boardroom to daily stand-ups
- Proven experience building recruiting systems, onboarding at scale, and designing career paths
- Experience with integrating teams after acquisitions and making clear keep, redeploy, and backfill decisions
- Executive presence, strong judgment, and the ability to coach managers
- Familiarity with validated assessments and their practical use
