About The Role

As an early engineer at Angle, you will be instrumental in architecting and scaling our core backend infrastructure that powers our healthcare platform. This role offers a unique opportunity to build systems from the ground up, including designing APIs, structuring data models, and optimizing performance to support rapid growth. You will collaborate closely with product owners, designers, and fellow engineers to develop new features, ensuring our systems are both scalable and reliable. Your responsibilities will encompass architecting backend services, debugging performance issues, and taking full ownership of the product lifecycle—from system design to deployment and support. This position is ideal for engineers passionate about solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment, working cross-functionally, and making a tangible difference in the future of healthcare. The role is fully remote within the United States, offering flexibility and the chance to contribute from anywhere in the country.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong understanding of business context and a desire to connect engineering solutions to real-world problems
• Solid background in technical fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or Physics
• Proficiency in Python and Django; experience with Java is a plus
• Familiarity with data structures, CI/CD pipelines, software development lifecycle, and backend frameworks
• Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and make decisions with minimal supervision
• Passion for healthcare innovation and improving the patient experience
• Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to code quality
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with the Head of R&D to architect and develop Angle's backend infrastructure
• Work with product owners and designers to implement scalable solutions across multiple web products
• Support the entire application lifecycle, including concept, design, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Build high-performance backend applications capable of handling scale efficiently
• Partner with product leadership to plan and develop new features aligned with business goals
• Ensure applications comply with established quality standards and best practices
• Debug and resolve performance bottlenecks to optimize system performance
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and incorporate them into our platform as appropriate
