Sr Mechanical/Process Engineer - Department Head / Technical Leader (Pharmaceutical/Healthcare) – Philadelphia, PA / Remote
Seeking a Technical Leader who can bridge the gap between our Pharmaceutical Process Engineering Group and our Mechanical Engineering Healthcare Group.
This person will Represent the Firm in Client Meeting; Supervise Projects from Concept through Completion; Serve as the Technical Lead Delegating work and Mentoring Staff; Provide Design Review and QA/QC.
Successful candidates will have 8-10 years of experience with a background in Conceptual Design for Engineering Consulting Firms performing Mechanical and Process/Piping Systems Design for Healthcare, Cleanrooms, Laboratories, FDA-Regulated Environments, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities, and cGMP Facilities. Fully Remote, East Coast preferred, ideally in PA/NJ/DE Area.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Architectural Engineer
- PE License, highly Preferred
- Works closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal & external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design.
- Expertise in Process Piping Systems Design for FDA-Regulated Environments and Critical Utilities
- Expertise in Mechanical (MEP) Systems Design for Healthcare Projects; Cleanroom Design & Optimization including HVAC Systems, Filtration & Purification Systems.
Duties
- Lead MEP and process design projects from concept through closeout—acting as the quarterback between clients, engineering teams, and field partners.
- Works closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal & external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design.
- Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and client communications like a boss.
- Coordinate deliverables across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty process systems (think clean steam, WFI, lab gases, etc.).
- Forecast resourcing needs and timelines without micromanaging—but with precision.
- Attend project meetings (virtually and sometimes in-person), speak client, and translate engineering speak with grace.
- Keep the team focused, the clients confident, and the documentation tight.
- Project work may include All Levels of Design such as Studies, Conceptual and Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation and Construction Administration
