About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Full Stack Engineer to join our remote team, with the expectation of reporting to our Mountain View location at least three times a week if residing within a 50-mile radius. This role is pivotal in advancing GM's AI Lifecycle Team, which develops the user experience backbone and visualization tools that enable Machine Learning Engineers to effectively manage the entire AI lifecycle—from data collection and model training to deployment in autonomous vehicles. As a key contributor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including research scientists and ML engineers to develop innovative solutions that drive the future of intelligent driving technology. Your expertise will help enhance system observability, operational excellence, and user experience, ensuring the platform's scalability, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in building production-level frontend applications using React, Angular, WebGL, or similar frameworks
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of dynamic frontend fundamentals
  • Experience in building, deploying, and maintaining high-availability backend services
  • Proven track record leading large technical initiatives from conception through operational deployment and ongoing evolution
  • Ability to identify and decompose broad challenges into actionable initiatives across multiple engineering teams
  • Expertise in designing and implementing enterprise and systems architecture standards, frameworks, and practices from the ground up
  • Programming experience in Python, Java, and Go
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud infrastructure, automation, configuration management, artifact management, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop metrics for platform performance and health monitoring
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with a focus on technical talent development and mentoring

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop user experience workflows and interfaces that enhance ML engineer productivity and operational efficiency
  • Build backend integrations to unify the AI lifecycle experience, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability
  • Elevate system observability, debuggability, and operational standards to meet security and compliance requirements
  • Own and drive the architecture and design of the platform ecosystem, including scalability, reliability, and low latency
  • Establish and track key performance metrics, creating roadmaps for system scaling, performance, and deployment speed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement frameworks for UX and backend systems
  • Participate in the entire project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and prototyping to implementation, review, and deployment
  • Review technical design documents and pull requests, ensuring adherence to best practices and documentation standards
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, challenge existing processes, and pursue new technical inquiries
  • Mentor and develop technical talent within the team, contributing to recruiting efforts and knowledge sharing
