As a HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will be a key member of the team that enables the Laboratory to accomplish its mission by providing strategic guidance and high-level support to management on all HR products, policies, and services for the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Business Management. Implement a wide range of HR programs and provide functional direction for sub-team of HR Generalists to meet organizational objectives in partnership with our HR centers of expertise.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership & Partnership: Demonstrated ability to effectively guide and coach senior-level management and executives on HR matters. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff. Demonstrated experience identifying and leading strategic HR opportunities for a large and complex organization. Experience in bringing teams together and working with cross-cutting teams to achieve common goals and objectives.
HR Business Acumen: Advanced knowledge and consultative experience with a variety of customer organizations. Specialized knowledge of HR theories, principles, and understanding of HR as an interrelated system of functional operations. Significant understanding of the following HR-related disciplines: benefits, compensation, employee relations, workforce planning, employee development, retention, etc. Evidence of advising stakeholders on human resources policies and procedures and completing HR actions such as hiring, salary actions, promotions, terminations, performance management, and addressing employee relations issues.
Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to be predictive and proactive when working with customers to understand business needs and drivers, resolve issues, and apply policy and procedure to successfully achieve business goals. Ability to build long-term, trusting relationships with clients and HR colleagues as well as with members of other organizations to collaboratively address client objectives. Demonstrated experience in managing difficult situations and conflict. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Advanced skills in preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
Technical Expertise: Advanced working knowledge of HR processes and procedures. Significant experience with HR systems (i.e., Oracle, People Soft, etc.) and databases (i.e., Microsoft Excel) to accurately input information and retrieve, analyze, and report HR data and metrics. Experience using data and analytics to inform business decisions.
Ethical Practice: Direct experience maintaining confidentiality and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) throughout daily operations.
Planning and Prioritization: Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of assignments, including setting direction for others, adapting quickly to shifting priorities, meeting strict deadlines, and multi-tasking in a detail-oriented and fast-paced environment.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Professional certification (PHR, SPHR)
- Detailed knowledge of LANL organizational structure, policies, processes, mission and goals
- Experience with HR strategy in a research, engineering, manufacturing, production, or similar environment
- Familiarity with Oracle and MicroStrategy Reporting tools
- Active DOE Q Clearance
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos/Santa Fe, New Mexico. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location and working approximately two days a week on-site and three days a week work from home. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
- Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
