A well-established SaaS company is hiring a CTO / Technical Director to lead a major transformation of its product and technology function. This is not a typical CTO role. The business is looking for someone who can re-architect a legacy platform into a modern, AI-integrated environment while rebuilding an in-house engineering team from scratch.
Role: CTO / Technical Director
Salary: Up to £140,000 per annum
Location: Fully Remote (UK-based)
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the transformation of a legacy SaaS platform into a scalable, AI-first product
- Define and deliver the technical roadmap, moving towards Python, TypeScript, and cloud-native infrastructure
- Embed AI and agentic capabilities to enhance automation and user experience
- Build and develop a new in-house engineering function, hiring and mentoring talent
- Stay hands-on to guide architecture and solve complex technical problems
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure product and technology strategies align
What you’ll need:
- Proven experience delivering technology transformations within SaaS environments
- Strong technical expertise in modern stacks such as Python, TypeScript, and AWS
- Understanding of AI and agentic systems and how they can be applied to SaaS
- Track record of building or rebuilding engineering teams in-house
- Ability to balance strategic direction with hands-on technical leadership
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
