Raytheon’s Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities directorate has a need for a Senior Systems Engineer – Operations and Maintenance Engineer who will support hardware/software integration and activities for the family of Patriot programs supporting development and fielded Patriot equipment within the Andover based Patriot Labs. As a member of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team, you will share the responsibility for ensuring that the Major End Items (MEIs) at Patriot Test Facility – Andover (PTFA) are fully functional to support the continuous software testing and development performed at the PTFA.
What You Will Do
Provide technical operations and maintenance support for the site radar systems issues and troubleshooting efforts as needed or instructed by site O&M leads and team membersMaintain the health and status of the radar in support of PTFA missionProvide engineering support for Configuration Management (CM) of hardware and softwareCommunicate with the end user on the health and status of RADAR and coordinate requests for calibration and maintenance time as neededSupport extended and off hours testing occasionally, as required to meet contractual commitmentsSupport onsite engineering teams with MEI hardware configuration activities, ensuring hardware is delivered in the required state to meet customer need datesSupport hardware integration and test activities and configuration of test equipment and tactical hardwareContribute to successful technical execution of complex integration and test eventsInteract, on a technical level, with team members from different engineering disciplines (HW, SW, Mechanical, Systems Integration and Test, etc.)Work collaboratively with fellow PTFA team members and lab users to quickly address safety and compliance issuesDemonstrate your ability to remain flexible, accommodate user requests, think quickly and place the immediate resolution of system issues impacting the user community above previously planned tasks while balancing daily PTFA required activitiesWork in a high paced, dynamic, multi-tasking environment including performing outside work in inclement weatherSupport continuous improvement process by identifying and troubleshooting issues with hardware, and clearly documenting all actions and steps takenPerform the lifting, installation, and removal of heavy hardware located within the confines of the Patriot Radar aisle (3’ wide,
Utilize your working knowledge of L/UNIX to troubleshoot and configure assets to meet customer needsAbility to travel domestically 10%, to White Sands Missile Range. Please note this position is second shift.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience working within a test facility, depot, field, and/or engineering lab.
- Experience with Linux and/or UNIX.
- Experience with instrumentation and/or test equipment, i.e (oscilloscope, multi-meter and/or spectrum analyzer).
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience working with MATLAB (including object-oriented programming), ADA, Python, C/C++, or Java
- Experience identifying and troubleshooting issues with hardware, and clearly documenting all actions and steps taken
- Demonstrated proficiency utilizing mechanical tool skills. (e.g., power tools, hand tools, etc.)
- Familiarization with Patriot Technical Manuals and Patriot Maintenance Control System diagnostic software
- Excellent communications skills, verbal, and written

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
