About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team at Scout Motors. This role is central to designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and secure. The successful candidate will work closely with software development, systems integration, security, and cross-functional teams to build robust infrastructure solutions using modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. Responsibilities include designing container orchestration solutions such as EKS/K8S, selecting managed cloud services aligned with engineering needs, developing CI/CD pipelines, and implementing monitoring and logging systems to ensure high availability and optimal performance. This position offers flexibility to work remotely initially, with future relocation to Scout Motors headquarters in Fremont, CA, and may involve occasional in-person meetings and travel. The role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to a pioneering brand committed to revolutionizing transportation through innovation and sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of practical experience as a DevOps, Cloud, or Site Reliability Engineer
  • Proficiency in automation scripting languages such as Python, Shell, Ruby, etc.
  • Strong experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Expertise in configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab Pipelines, Harness.io, or ArgoCD
  • Extensive experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools including Terraform, Pulumi, or Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide engineering teams in best practices

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions using modern IaC practices
  • Collaborate with software development and integration teams to build end-to-end cloud-based solutions
  • Develop and manage container orchestration environments such as EKS/K8S
  • Select and configure managed cloud services that align with platform engineering objectives
  • Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines to facilitate agile, reliable, and secure software deployment processes
  • Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify system issues and ensure high availability
  • Develop logging and troubleshooting frameworks to streamline incident resolution
  • Work closely with security teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Engage with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and QA engineers to deliver robust infrastructure solutions
  • Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to continuously improve infrastructure capabilities
