Optomi, in partnership with our client, are seeking an experienced Senior MS System Engineer to join their organization on a fully remote 6 month contract to hire opportunity.

We are embarking on a major technology transformation — spinning off from a parent company and building a brand-new Microsoft 365 environment from the ground up. We’re looking for a Senior Microsoft Systems Engineer who can hit the ground running and become the go-to expert for all things Microsoft 365.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of a new Microsoft tenant and execute migrations with minimal user impact.
- Configure and manage Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Azure AD.
- Partner with external vendors during separation, then take ownership of the environment post-migration.
- Implement authentication solutions and optimize Azure AD federation, SSO, and MFA.
- Design integrations and automations across Microsoft and third-party systems.
- Collaborate with security teams to apply Zero Trust principles and ensure compliance.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting, documentation, and staff training.
- Contribute to ongoing optimization of cloud infrastructure and Azure services.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 7+ years in IT systems engineering with a specialized focus on Microsoft technologies.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, architecture, and security.
- Strong Azure infrastructure experience (compute, identity, networking).
- Advanced knowledge of Exchange Online configuration, migration, and management.
- Proven experience with Active Directory & Azure AD design/federation.
- Expert-level understanding of Intune and modern device management.
- Hands-on experience with virtual desktop infrastructure (Citrix or AVD).
- Strong documentation, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with tenant-to-tenant migrations.
- Background in identity management and SSO solutions.
- Project experience in large-scale cloud or infrastructure migrations.
