Join a fast-paced AI team working across text, video, and multi-agent systems. As Senior Applied AI Engineer, you’ll design and deploy intelligent, user-facing products powered by large language models (LLMs). This is a hands-on role focused on end-to-end delivery, turning complex AI systems into working, scalable tools that people use every day.
The Role:
As a senior member of a product-focused AI team, you’ll work closely with engineers and product leads to build LLM-powered applications that solve meaningful problems.
You’ll design intelligent agent workflows, experiment with multimodal inputs, and deploy production-ready AI systems from scratch. This is the ideal role for someone who’s already been through the journey of taking generative AI beyond a prototype and into the hands of real users.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Designing and building AI-powered systems, including multi-agent workflows and conversational tools.
- Creating production-level Python code using modern engineering best practices (CI/CD, Terraform, containerisation).
- Developing RAG systems, fine-tuning models, and optimising prompts for complex use cases.
- Collaborating closely with product teams to translate ideas into shipped features.
- Working with multimodal inputs (text, audio, video) to deliver innovative AI experiences.
- Playing a key role in building out a new Tokyo-based team, as part of a long-term global strategy to scale AI innovation from Japan.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong Python skills and experience shipping production-ready code.
- Hands-on work with modern generative AI models (LLMs, multimodal).
- Deep experience in prompt engineering, RAG, and model fine-tuning.
- Track record of building and launching AI systems used by real users.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code, cloud environments, and scalable systems.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative team.
- Willingness to relocate to Tokyo (visa sponsorship provided).
Bonus If You Bring:
- Experience with LangChain, Pinecone, Hugging Face, or similar tools.
- Background in multimodal AI or advanced computer vision.
- Understanding of MLOps/LLMOps principles and vector databases.
- Prior experience building AI systems in a consumer product environment.
