Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / Co-founder in AUSTRALIA

About Us: We're building an AI-first, integrated legal tech platform designed specifically to empower in-house legal teams to enable sales (commercial) teams to close deals faster. Our integrated solution seamlessly interfaces with existing client systems, leveraging proprietary data to streamline contract negotiation, risk management, and deal-closing processes. Security, compliance, and robust cloud architecture are at our core.

Role Overview: As our CTO/Co-founder, you'll be instrumental in shaping our technology vision, strategy, and architecture from the ground up. You'll collaborate directly with the founding team to build a secure, scalable, cloud-based platform infused with cutting-edge AI capabilities. This role offers significant equity ownership and the opportunity to significantly influence the direction and growth of the business.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the technological vision, product roadmap, and system architecture.
• Design, develop, and deploy a scalable, secure, cloud-native legal tech solution.
• Integrate advanced AI technologies to optimize legal workflows and contract management.
• Ensure seamless integration with clients' existing CRM, ERP, and legal management systems.
• Build and manage a talented development team.
• Maintain rigorous security and compliance standards (ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.).
• Establish processes for proprietary data collection and analytics.
• Drive continuous innovation through customer-focused solutions and iterative feedback loops.

What We're Looking For:

• Ideally you have experience as a senior tech leader (CTO/Head of Engineering) ideally within a SaaS, AI, or legal tech startup but we're open to applications from people looking for their first leadership role! We're focused on someone with the right approach to being a co-founder rather than ticking all the boxes :)
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern architecture principles. We want you to be experimenting with AI coding tools and determine the best ones for certain tasks and be able to use these for prototyping
• Hands-on experience integrating complex systems and APIs.
• Deep knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance frameworks.
• Expertise in AI/ML technologies, particularly NLP and document intelligence.
• Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and grow tech teams.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, adaptable, and driven to innovate.
• Excellent communicator able to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. We want someone to really own the technical part of the business but be able to keep everyone up to speed
