Job Title: Data Architect

Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect to lead the technical design and strategy for our cloud-based product. This fully remote role offers an initial six-month contract with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating business requirements into comprehensive technical specifications and guiding development teams and stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into technical specifications, including designing data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, and data warehouses.
• Define and implement a robust data architecture framework, standards, and principles—including data modeling, metadata, security, reference data (e.g., product codes, client categories), and master data (e.g., clients, vendors, materials, employees).
• Establish a reference architecture that serves as a blueprint for building and enhancing data systems.
• Design and manage data flows by identifying data-generating sources, mapping data requirements across functions, and overseeing efficient data transitions.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and scalability issues, with a focus on optimizing performance across various data storage solutions.
• Utilize deep expertise in AWS, working with a range of AWS data stores and services, and leveraging tools such as Amazon AWS Glue.
• Collaborate with multiple departments, stakeholders, partners, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and execution of data strategies.
• Leverage hands-on experience with DataBricks, Kafka, BigQuery, MongoDB, and other data warehousing solutions, while demonstrating advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Apply containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to support scalable and efficient deployments.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 12+ years of hands-on software development experience with a strong focus on system architecture and design.
• Proven track record as a technical leader or architect on complex software projects.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Deep expertise in AWS services and cloud-native development.
• Extensive experience with BigQuery, DataBricks, MongoDB, or similar data warehousing technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize performance across diverse data storage solutions.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
