Title: Intermediate Penetration Tester

About the Role:

As an Intermediate Penetration Tester at Risk X, you'll be part of our CREST accredited assurance team, conducting thorough security assessments and helping organizations strengthen their defense posture. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with diverse clients while continuing to develop your expertise in cybersecurity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive penetration testing across various customer environments including network infrastructure, web applications, cloud deployments, and mobile applications.
• Execute security assessments following industry-standard methodologies and frameworks
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation of testing procedures and results
• Assist in pre-sales activities including technical scoping and requirement gathering
• Contribute to internal knowledge base and process improvement initiatives
• Stay current with emerging security threats and attack techniques

Required Skills / Qualifications and Experience:

• Based in South Africa, position is 100% remote, offices available in Cape Town and Durban.
• Grade 12 National Certificate
• 3+ years of hands-on penetration testing experience across various test types.
• Current practical penetration testing certification (OSCP, OSWE, OSEP, CRTP, CRTE or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of security tools, techniques, and procedures
• Excellent technical writing skills for creating detailed assessment reports
• Strong verbal communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with industry-standard frameworks (OWASP Testing Guide, NIST SP 800-115)
• Proven ability to work independently and without supervision
