We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced engineer with expertise in distributed systems to help architect an offline-first, peer-to-peer data backbone for seamless data distribution across tactical networks.
As a key member of our client's team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing foundational aspects of the software architecture and customer relationships, directly contributing to the development of the Department of Defense’s decentralized, resilient "supply web."
This challenging project ensures mission-critical logistics function effectively even in degraded environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Distributed Data Systems:
- Help our Client build the DoD’s "supply web" by designing, developing, and owning LogOS’ data backbone and data distribution capabilities for tactical networks.
- Design and implement an offline-first, peer-to-peer data architecture, enabling standalone edge node operations in austere locations while ensuring efficient data distribution across a large, dynamic, and geographically dispersed network of instances when conditions allow.
Data Distribution and Peering Mechanism:
- Design and implement resilient data distribution and peering mechanisms to adapt to varying link qualities and environments.
- Ensure the ability to efficiently transmit logistical data across edge networks that are characterized by intermittent and limited bandwidth.
Secure VPN Implementation:
- Develop a secure virtual private network (VPN) layer between LogOS instances to ensure logistical supply chain data can be peered securely, even across networks constantly under threat of surveillance and interference.
Diagnostic, Testing, and Simulation:
- Create diagnostic, testing, and simulation tools for software-in-the-loop (SITL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing environments.
- Ensure that all solutions meet high standards of reliability, security, and speed, validating through real-world and simulated environments.
Technology Utilization and Innovation:
- Leverage, modify, and deploy off-the-shelf technologies or develop novel solutions from scratch to address unique technical challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or other related field)
- 5+ years of professional experience using Go, Java, Rust or Python ect.
- Expertise in designing and implementing complex systems, ideally in distributed data systems or similar areas.
- A passion for solving challenging problems, especially in high-impact, mission-critical environments.
Ideal Candidate:
A jack-of-all-trades with expertise or interest in:
- Distributed systems, data architecture, and logistics operations
- Security mechanisms, especially in challenging environments
- Tactical networks and their associated constraints
- Prototyping and rapid iteration in mission-critical systems
- Passion for working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where your work will have direct consequences on operational success.
Why Join?
- Work on a mission-driven project that will have a lasting impact on the defense sector and critical supply chain operations.
- Collaborate with a diverse, passionate, and high-performance team committed to innovation.
- Be part of an inclusive culture where your expertise and contributions will drive the evolution of advanced logistics and tactical systems.
