Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Back-End Engineer to join our team of senior and engaged talent. In this role, you will help lead the back-end architecture, the adoption of best practices and technologies, and ensure the reliability and scalability of our server-side systems. You will be responsible for developing and scaling our APIs, database systems, and infrastructure, ensuring they meet our customers' expectations in the most beautifully simple way.

Role Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with our backend lead to lead the adoption of best practices and technologies to ensure we meet our customers' expectations and guide the team in maintaining high standards for back-end development and performance.
• Develop and maintain high-quality server-side systems using PHP (Laravel framework).
• Design and manage databases, ensuring data integrity, performance optimization, and scalability (PostgreSQL).
• Create and maintain robust RESTful APIs and internal/external integrations.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance back-end performance and reliability.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in back-end development and DevOps practices.

Requirements (Sound like you?)

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in back-end development, with a strong background in React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Proven history of delivering high-quality, scalable web applications in a growth start-up environment.
• Strong work ethic with a focus on achieving goals and deadlines.
• Flexible and adaptable, willing to explore new technologies and methods to optimize back-end development.

Soft skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with designers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders in the company (Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Partnerships, etc.)
• Clearly convey ideas and advocate for best practices in back-end development.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and its services.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Knowledge of message queuing systems and microservices architecture.
• Exposure to advanced DevOps tools and practices beyond GitHub Actions.
