Role: Transmission Operations Engineer

Location: Austin, Texas

Salary: $120,000-155,000 + Annual Bonus

Hours: Monday - Friday 8-5 (Hybrid)

Summary

This role oversees the comprehensive evaluation and optimization of the organization's high-voltage power network. Key responsibilities include conducting in-depth analyses of transmission system performance, developing innovative solutions for power distribution challenges, and ensuring the seamless integration of new components into existing networks. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in electrical engineering and project management skills, enabling them to navigate the complexities of modern power systems while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain power-flow model data; analyze transmission system performance using steady-state and dynamic models.
  • Lead studies for NERC and ERCOT compliance; participate in relevant ERCOT working groups.
  • Prepare capital improvement justifications; respond to ERCOT information requests for Regional Transmission Plan.
  • Review and maintain Transmission Planning and Line Design Standards.
  • Evaluate load/generation interconnections' impact on the transmission system.
  • Review transmission line designs and operate engineering software.
  • Oversee engineering graduates' work; prepare technical specifications and review project compliance.
  • Manage large transmission projects; represent the Cooperative in regulatory processes.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, mentor department engineers, and provide engineering support to other departments.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience extracting SQL data from vendor systems, i.e. Oracle for Data Analysis.
  • Proficient in computer systems and power distribution system analysis
  • Knowledge of transmission materials and skilled in regulatory processes
  • Strong time management and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings, communicate effectively, and resolve conflicts.
