Job Description
Our Customer is a leading global provider of cutting-edge payments technology solutions, dedicated to shaping the future of financial transactions worldwide. We're looking for a skilled Database Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and performance of our database systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve database issues before they impact users.
- Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to optimize and monitor databases.
- Ensure data and access standards are followed by collaborating with engineering teams.
- Fine-tune databases and operating systems for peak performance and scalability.
- Support application teams with SQL tuning, indexing, and partitioning for optimal read/write efficiency.
- Design, develop, and implement database systems based on client needs.
- Administer and troubleshoot MySQL databases, including security patching, SQL tuning, capacity planning, and schema design.
- Design and implement processes to minimize database outages and downtime.
- Participate in database design and architecture to support application development.
- Investigate and resolve database and application issues.
- Automate routine maintenance, monitoring, and deployment procedures.
- Develop best practices for database design and development activities.
This is a hybrid work opportunity, requiring attendance at the customer's office in Warsaw twice a week for team relationship-building purposes.
Due to the nature of our work in the financial market, candidates will be subject to detailed background screening including education, employment history, and criminal record.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, PLUS 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an algorithmic mind.
- Expertise in MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.
- A deep understanding of relational database design and SQL.
- The ability to create, update, and maintain stored procedures.
- Working knowledge of agile lifecycle management tools like JIRA.
- Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.
- A proven track record of designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining large-scale databases.
