Position: Head of IT (Fully Remote)

I am working with a medium-sized company in the educational sector, seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of IT to lead and shape their IT strategy. This fully remote role is perfect for someone with significant experience in IT leadership, strong expertise in Yii2 development, and solid knowledge of server management. You will be responsible for overseeing the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and reliable, while driving innovation to support business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the IT department, including overseeing the team’s daily operations, processes, and performance.
• Develop and execute IT strategies aligned with the company’s vision and educational objectives.
• Manage the full software development lifecycle, including overseeing projects, development pipelines, and deployment.
• Ensure the Yii2-based web applications are running smoothly, identifying and resolving any performance or security issues.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies, recommending improvements to our IT systems and processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to define software and hardware requirements for educational needs.
• Manage vendor relationships and ensure that third-party service providers meet service level agreements (SLAs).
• Implement security measures, backups, and disaster recovery plans to protect the company's digital assets.
• Develop and maintain IT policies, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Experience: Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, with a minimum of 2 years in IT management.

Yii2 Framework Expertise: Strong working knowledge of Yii2 PHP framework, including experience in building, optimizing, and maintaining Yii2-based applications.

Server Management: Solid understanding of server infrastructure, including configuration, management, performance optimization, and security.

Technical Knowledge: Proficient in server-side technologies (Linux, Apache, Nginx, etc.) and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).

Cloud Services: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) and serverless technologies.

Leadership Skills: Experience leading and mentoring IT teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex IT systems and server-related issues.

Remote Work Experience: Ability to effectively manage remote teams and workflows in a fully remote environment.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Familiarity with other PHP frameworks like Laravel or Symfony.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Nagios, etc.).
