System Administrator - Linux/Windows Vulnerability Management in EUROPEAN UNION

Our client - a leading global pharmaceutical solutions organization ranked in the top of the Global Fortune 500 is seeking new members to join their team. They are transitioning to a global IT operating model to provide measurably effective and efficient technology solutions. Federated Infrastructure supports the recent and upcoming acquisitions by ensuring continued operational stability through increased security and governance while migrating it to the company IT standards and compliance frameworks.


Vulnerability Engineers will play a pivotal role in further securing multiple segments across many countries in accordance with the company’s Vulnerability Management standards.

This role may require weekend/overnight on-call work. It offers flexible working hours during the regular workweek and a fully remote option from anywhere in the European Union.


Responsibilities:


  • As a Vulnerability Engineer, you will help improve IT security for our businesses across multiple countries. You’ll assist in preparing infrastructure for regular patching and making sure systems are ready for business use after patching is complete.
  • You’ll work with the Shared Service IT teams to support the setup for Federated Business Segments and ensure it meets Information Security standards.
  • In this role, you will need to be accustomed to the most common Linux or Windows operating system builds and technologies used to administer it on a 1st and 2nd level basis.
  • You will be responsible for executing any application stop/start procedures as well as resolving any post-patching issues utilizing SOPs and automation.
  • You’d need to work with operating system support including software updates and upgrades, performance management, configuration management and OS logs troubleshooting, and capacity planning for the environment.
  • Ideally you would be able to proficiently utilize and troubleshoot most common configuration management tools (MECM/SCCM or Puppet) as well have working experience with PowerShell, Bash or Python.
  • Knowledge in network components and common troubleshooting skills is nice to have
  • To be successful in this position, you must also display demonstrated team working skills, written and oral communication skills, and formal documentation skills.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree, tech certificate, or similar work experience in a relevant field.
  • Familiar with operating system security standards.
  • Knowledge of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE).
  • Experience using cybersecurity vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Comfortable working with enterprise ticketing systems (ideally ServiceNow) and following ITIL standards, especially for incident and change management.
  • Skilled in identifying tool needs for OS operations teams and making sure these needs are met.
  • Background in supporting, setting up, and managing server operating systems in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Detail-oriented with a careful, analytical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Knowledgeable in virtualization platforms, especially VMware.
  • Solid understanding of public cloud platforms
  • Experienced with either Linux or Windows server operating systems.


  • 3+ years managing large-scale RedHat/CentOS/SuSE Server Systems OR Windows Server Systems (version 2008 and onward).
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, and YAML OR PowerShell for Windows.
  • Experience with Puppet, RHEL Satellite, or SUSE Manager OR SCCM/MECM or WSUS for Windows.
  • Familiarity with YUM and Pulp for Linux environments OR relevant package management tools for Windows.
  • Knowledge of clustering software like Pacemaker/Veritas for Linux OR Windows Server roles like Clusters and DFS.


The position is 1 year contract + possible extensions

Hourly rate: 18 - 22 EUR/h
