About the role
The product analyst will be part of the JoVE product team. The person will work closely with product managers across different business lines to track key metrics and collaborate on insight generation for product improvements. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to get hands-on with data and contribute to impactful product improvements.
Responsibilities
- Tracking and reporting product metrics.
- Collaborate with product, technology, and other cross-functional teams to review existing metrics tracked and define new metrics.
- Collaborate with the data engineering team to ensure that all the data required to track day-to-day metrics flows constantly.
- Take end-to-end ownership of key metrics and work with respective product owners to understand areas we need to measure and ensure the needle moves in the right direction.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the data captured.
- Create and maintain dashboards that track key business metrics using redash, mix panel, etc.
- Identify product improvement opportunities.
- Understands user flows, customer needs, and business needs.
- Present data-backed actionable insights that would aid in tactical and strategic product decision-making.
- Conduct exploratory analysis to identify gaps in product experience and recommend product improvements.
- Refine ambiguous questions and generate new hypotheses about the product by deeply understanding the data, our customers, and our business.
- Inform business and product strategy by defining and updating core metrics for each initiative.
Skills and Requirements
- Relevant experience of 3+ years as a product analyst or data analyst
- Willingness to get your hands dirty with messy data to identify product opportunities and uncover interesting product insights
- Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with stakeholders coming from both technical and non-technical backgrounds
- A knack for solving analysis questions and is curious about the same.
- Ability to understand product & business in general, with a steep learning curve
- Ability to translate outcomes from data into tangible points for data consumers
- Takes impact-oriented, user-centric approach to data analysis
- Ability to work in a startup environment.
- Proficient working knowledge of
- Excel, SQL, and Python is a must-have
- Mixpanel expertise creation is good to have
- Tableau or Power BI is a should have
- A/B testing tools are good to have
- Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, and Google Tag Manager are good to have
