Senior Data Scientist

Location: Fully Remote, United States

Position Type: Full-Time

Clearance: U.S. citizenship is required. The candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain federal suitability, a government-issued PIV credential, and required system access.

The Opportunity

TeamWorx Security is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to develop analytical and AI-enabled capabilities on a federal enterprise data modernization effort. The Senior Data Scientist will work with business teams, technical staff, and government stakeholders to turn mission questions into analytical approaches, build and validate models on governed enterprise data, and deliver results decision-makers can act on and defend.

The work spans multiple business lines, so priorities shift as different teams need help. This role rewards someone who can move between problem domains, learn a new business area quickly, and apply the method that best fits the stakeholder's or end-user's question.

Success in this role requires initiative, ownership, and clear communication. You will work through ambiguity, identify needs or risks before they become problems, and move work forward without waiting for detailed direction.

What You'll Be Doing

• Translate mission and business questions into analytical approaches, working directly with government stakeholders and subject matter experts to define the problem before modeling it.
• Perform exploratory and statistical analysis, predictive modeling, forecasting, scenario analysis, and feature engineering using governed enterprise data.
• Develop, validate, and maintain models and AI-enabled analytical capabilities, including documented assumptions, definitions, and data lineage, and establish whether the outputs are accurate, explainable, and fit for the decision being supported.
• Build the analytical datasets your work depends on using Databricks, BigQuery, Python, and SQL, working with the data engineering team where production pipelines are required.
• Take ownership of existing analytical products, reports, and stakeholder relationships, sustaining and improving them while building new capabilities.
• Deliver results as visualizations, dashboards, models, and written analysis that technical and non-technical audiences can both use, and present findings to stakeholders and leadership.

What We Think You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree with 12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 10 years, in data science, statistics, mathematics, economics, operations research, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Demonstrated experience developing, validating, and documenting analytical models that informed real operational or business decisions.
• Strong applied statistics and machine learning fundamentals, including judgment about which method fits the problem.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for analysis, modeling, and working with data at scale.
• Experience evaluating model performance and communicating uncertainty, limitations, and assumptions honestly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience working in Databricks as a practitioner: notebooks, SQL and PySpark for analysis, model development and tracking, AI features, or dashboards.
  
  
  
  

Nice to Have

• Prior experience supporting GSA, ideally within the Public Buildings Service, including an understanding of how PBS is organized, how its business lines operate, and where its data lives.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery, along with familiarity with data governance and production support.
• Experience as the senior analytical voice on a team, setting methods, reviewing others' analysis, and mentoring less experienced analysts.
