Job Description
100% Remote / Location-Independent
---------------------------------------
Courtship is a new platform for serious dating.
We’re building a different approach to online dating - one that gives people more agency, more context, and better ways to discover potential partners.
Instead of endless swiping, Courtship lets users browse verified eligible singles, use meaningful filters, and understand relevant details upfront. The goal is simple: less noise, less guessing, and more intentional connections.
We are currently bootstrapped and early-stage, which means this is a genuine opportunity to join at the ground floor and have a meaningful influence on how the company grows.
The Role
We’re looking for a Marketing Analyst based in New York City who can help us understand our users, identify growth opportunities, and turn data into actionable marketing decisions.
This isn't a role where you'll simply produce weekly reports.
You’ll work closely with the founders across user acquisition, growth experiments, content, SEO, community, conversion, retention, and analytics.
You’ll help answer questions like:
* Where are our highest-quality users coming from?
* What makes someone sign up and complete their profile?
* Where do users drop off?
* Which acquisition channels actually produce engaged users?
* What messaging resonates with different segments?
* Which experiments should we run next?
* How can we improve conversion from visitor → signup → profile → connection?
* What does successful user behavior look like on Courtship?
What You'll Do
Growth & Marketing Analytics
* Analyze acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and conversion metrics.
* Build dashboards and recurring reports to track growth.
* Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities in user behavior.
* Segment users based on demographics, behavior, acquisition source, and engagement.
* Develop hypotheses and turn them into measurable experiments.
Experimentation
* Design and analyze A/B tests and growth experiments.

* Measure experiment results and communicate clear conclusions.
* Help optimize landing pages, onboarding, messaging, and conversion funnels.
* Work with the founders to prioritize experiments based on potential impact.
User & Market Research
* Analyze user behavior and feedback to understand what people actually want.
* Research competitors and emerging trends in dating, matchmaking, and consumer social products.
* Identify underserved user segments and potential acquisition channels.
* Combine quantitative data with qualitative user insights.
Growth Strategy
* Help develop acquisition strategies for NYC.
* Explore organic growth, SEO, content, communities, partnerships, referrals, and other channels.
* Track channel-level performance and CAC/engagement where applicable.
* Help build repeatable growth loops rather than relying solely on paid acquisition.
Founder Collaboration
Because we’re an early-stage company, you’ll work directly with the founders.
You may move between analytics, research, growth strategy, copy, experimentation, and execution depending on what the company needs.
You’ll have significant ownership rather than a narrowly defined job description.
What We're Looking For
We care more about analytical thinking, curiosity, and ownership than a particular degree.
You could be a great fit if you have:
* 1–4 years of experience in marketing analytics, growth, product analytics, consulting, consumer technology, or a similar analytical role.
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
* Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills.
* Experience with SQL and analytics tools is strongly preferred.
* Ability to turn messy data into clear insights.
* Strong written and verbal communication.
* A structured approach to solving ambiguous problems.
* Curiosity about consumer behavior and why people make decisions.
* Comfort working independently in a fast-moving startup environment.
Experience with Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Looker, Tableau, Python, SQL, or similar tools is a plus.

Most Important Requirement
Please use Courtship before applying.
Every applicant is expected to have created an account and explored the product at least once before submitting an application.
We want people who can tell us what they think about the product - not just people who are interested in the job.
In your application, please briefly mention:
1. What you liked about Courtship
2. What you would change
3. One marketing experiment you would run to acquire users in NYC
This is intentionally part of the application process.
Why Join Us?
Courtship is still very early.
We’re **bootstrapped**, which means we're building carefully, talking directly to users, and focusing on sustainable growth rather than optimizing for vanity metrics.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
* Work directly with the founders.
* Own meaningful growth initiatives from idea to execution.
* Influence the product based on real user behavior.
* Experiment quickly without layers of bureaucracy.
* Help build the marketing engine from the ground up.
* Work on a consumer product with a large and interesting behavioral problem.
Work Style
**100% remote and location-independent.**
Although the initial market is NYC, the team is remote-first. We care about autonomy, clear communication, accountability, and outcomes rather than physical presence.
For this particular role, **being based in or having strong familiarity with NYC is strongly preferred**, given the importance of understanding the local dating market and user community.
Compensation
We are a bootstrapped early-stage startup and will structure compensation competitively based on experience, with the possibility of meaningful ownership/upside for the right candidate.
We’re happy to discuss the details transparently during the interview process.
