Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Platform Engineer based in United States.

This role focuses on designing, deploying, and operating secure cloud-native platforms supporting mission-critical government applications.

You will engineer AWS-based Kubernetes environments and ensure they remain reliable, scalable, secure, and supportable.

The position combines infrastructure automation, container orchestration, DevSecOps, cybersecurity compliance, observability, and technical troubleshooting.

You will translate application and mission requirements into repeatable platform services while collaborating with engineering, cybersecurity, network, and mission teams.

The role also involves application onboarding, release management, vulnerability remediation, incident response, and continuous service improvement.

Strong documentation and communication skills are essential for communicating technical risks, platform health, and recommended actions to diverse stakeholders.

This is a fully remote U.S. opportunity supporting Department of Defense operations and requires an active Secret security clearance.

Accountabilities

You will own the technical operation and continuous improvement of secure AWS and Kubernetes platform capabilities, ensuring applications can be deployed and sustained effectively within a government environment.

  • Design, deploy, configure, operate, and sustain AWS-based platform services supporting mission-critical applications and workloads.
  • Administer Kubernetes clusters and supporting services, including nodes, namespaces, role-based access control, ingress, service discovery, storage, secrets, network policies, autoscaling, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Build and maintain repeatable infrastructure and platform configurations using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or approved equivalent technologies.
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, container registries, artifact repositories, automated testing, and deployment controls.
  • Onboard, configure, deploy, and sustain containerized applications across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Integrate platform services with government network services, identity and access management, public key infrastructure, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, endpoint security, and other enterprise services.
  • Maintain secure platform configurations aligned with approved security baselines, DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework requirements, and Authority to Operate conditions.
  • Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, security posture, and application health using AWS-native and approved observability tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving Linux, containers, Kubernetes, AWS services, networking, DNS, certificates, encryption, load balancing, storage, compute, identity, and application dependencies.
  • Perform patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration management, backup, recovery, and controlled platform upgrades while minimizing operational disruption.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, software, data, systems engineering, and mission teams to resolve technical dependencies and deliver integrated capabilities.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, configuration standards, operating procedures, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, deployment instructions, and knowledge articles.
  • Participate in technical interchange meetings, architecture reviews, release planning, change control, incident response, root-cause analysis, and after-action reviews.
  • Provide clear reporting on platform health, technical risks, security findings, maintenance activities, dependencies, and recommended actions.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance and time-sensitive incident response outside normal business hours when mission requirements demand it.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in cloud and platform engineering, strong Kubernetes and AWS expertise, and a solid understanding of secure government technology environments.
