The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join the Information Systems Shared Services (ISSS) team within the Office of the Chief Information Officer in Yellowknife.
This role helps shape and support the data platforms that government departments rely on to deliver programs and make informed decisions. You will work with enterprise database, data warehouse and analytics technologies while helping ensure GNWT data is secure, reliable, resilient and accessible.
About the Role
As part of the Data & Analytics team, you will design, implement and manage enterprise database and data warehouse environments and support Business Intelligence, visualization and analytics services. You will work with technical specialists and departmental clients to develop database architectures, improve performance and availability, automate administration and support the implementation and ongoing operation of complex data platforms.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain enterprise database and data warehouse architectures, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and related platforms.
- Implement, configure and administer databases across production, development and testing environments.
- Develop and automate database administration, monitoring, maintenance and operational procedures.
- Monitor and improve database performance, reliability, availability, backup and recovery.
- Apply database security standards and administration procedures to protect government information and systems.
- Support Business Intelligence, analytics and visualization platforms and participate in complex system releases, upgrades and enhancements.

Qualifications Required
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a relevant field, combined with four years or more of relevant and progressive experience in database design, implementation and administration.
