Job Description

We are adding a Junior BI Analyst to our team to support a project for a leading London-based consultancy. This client needs better visibility into their internal operations, and your job will be to turn their raw data into clear, functional reports. You will help us move information out of fragmented spreadsheets and into structured systems that provide real value to their management team. This is a full-time, permanent position designed for someone early in their career who wants to learn how data systems are built and maintained in a professional setting.

About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small, fully remote software agency. We do not build flashy social media apps or marketing websites that focus on style over substance. Instead, we build the practical tools that businesses actually use to function: CRM integrations, admin dashboards, and database migrations. Our clients come to us because they have a specific operational headache that needs a technical solution.
We operate with a high degree of transparency. We provide fixed quotes for our work, we perform weekly demos, and we hand over all the source code and documentation at the end of a project. We use reliable technologies like Postgres, Node, and React because they are stable and easy to support. We are a team of senior developers and designers who prefer solving real problems over chasing industry trends. Being a remote company is part of our identity, and we have built our workflows around clear communication and documented processes.

The role
In this role, you will be the bridge between technical databases and the people who need to understand them. Much of your time will be spent working with the data for our consultancy client, ensuring their reporting reflects the reality of their business. This is not about complex predictive modeling or experimental algorithms. It is about the fundamental work of data analysis: cleaning up records, writing queries, and building dashboards that actually make sense to a non-technical user.
You will spend your days working within our remote environment, collaborating with our developers to understand where data lives and how to pull it out effectively. You will also create walkthrough videos and simple documentation for the client so they know exactly how to use the tools we build for them. This role is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for an entry level professional starting in the field of data analytics.

What we look for
We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys the process of bringing order to messy information. Since this is an entry level role, we do not expect a long history of professional experience, but we do expect curiosity and a basic understanding of how data works. You should be comfortable with the following:
  • A basic understanding of SQL and how to organize data within a database.
  • The ability to take a complicated set of numbers and create a simple, readable chart.
  • Good writing skills for documentation and client updates.
  • Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment.
  • A patient approach to cleaning up data that might be inconsistent or poorly formatted.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and adapt to the specific needs of a project.
  • Attention to detail, especially when checking that your reports match the source data.

Helpful background
While not strictly required, it is helpful if you have some familiarity with the tools and concepts we use every day. If you have explored these in school or through your own projects, let us know:
  • Familiarity with Postgres or other relational databases.
  • Experience with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Basic knowledge of how APIs work to move data between different software programs.
  • A background in business, statistics, or a related field that teaches you how to think about numbers.
  • Experience using GitHub or similar tools to manage your work.
  • Understanding of basic Excel functions for quick data manipulation before moving into a database.

Working at Pixel Systems
Working here means focusing on the work itself rather than corporate politics. We are a small team, which means you will have direct access to experienced developers who can help you grow. There are no layers of middle management to navigate. We value clarity, honesty, and getting things right the first time. Because we are remote, we do not have an office, and we do not expect you to be at a desk during specific, rigid hours as long as the work is moving forward and you are available for our scheduled team check-ins.
We believe that high-quality documentation is just as important as the code itself. We take pride in building systems that do not break and that are easy for our clients to maintain after our work is done. You will see the immediate impact of your work as the consultancy team begins using your dashboards to run their daily meetings and plan their projects. It is a stable, quiet, and productive environment for someone who wants to build a career in data.
We prefer a straightforward approach to everything we do. We do not have long, aimless meetings or elaborate brainstorming sessions. We identify a problem, we decide on a solution, and then we build it. If you value a workplace where you can focus on solving practical problems and shipping work that helps people do their jobs better, you will find our team to be a good fit. We look for colleagues who are reliable, clear in their communication, and ready to contribute to a collaborative remote culture.
