Job Title: Senior Wireless Communications Engineer (Waveform L2)

A defence company based in Abu Dhabi is seeking a a Senior Wireless Communications Engineer with expertise in Layer 2 (MAC, LLC, Routing & Scheduling), MANET, and wireless network simulation to join its engineering team. You will design, develop, and simulate Layer 2 protocols and algorithms for advanced wireless communication networks, using tools such as OMNeT++ or NS-3. Working closely with wireless architects and embedded software engineers, you'll help deliver high-performance wireless communication solutions for next-generation defence systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and simulate Layer 2 algorithms and protocols for wireless communication networks.
- Develop and optimise MAC, LLC, routing, and scheduling protocols for MANET and other wireless networks.
- Build simulation scenarios and analyse network performance using tools such as OMNeT++ or NS-3.
- Validate Layer 2 performance using OMNeT++ (Omnest), NS3, or similar simulation tools.
- Develop scripts and tools for logging, performance analysis, and validation.
- Document simulation results, testing activities, and performance findings.
- Prepare technical reports and present results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work closely with wireless architects, simulation engineers, and embedded software engineers to integrate solutions into products.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting.

Required Skills:
- Strong experience with C++ and Python.
- Experience using OMNeT++, NS-3, or similar wireless network simulation tools.
- Good understanding of wireless communication systems and physical layer concepts.
- Strong knowledge of Layer 2 protocols, including MAC, LLC, routing, and scheduling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Education:

- Hands-on experience debugging and optimising Layer 2 protocols.
- Experience with technologies such as MANET, Wi-Fi, LTE/4G, or 5G.
- Strong understanding of wireless networking standards and protocols.
