Director of Data Science
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 base + 20-30% annual bonus

We're partnering with an innovative healthcare technology organization that is expanding its Data & Analytics leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Director of Data Science to lead a growing team of data scientists and ML engineers while remaining technically engaged in solving complex business problems.
In this role, you'll help shape the organization's data science strategy, oversee the development of advanced machine learning solutions, and partner with executive leadership to turn data into measurable business value. You'll balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical guidance, helping teams deliver scalable, production-ready AI and analytics solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Analytics professionals.
- Partner with business and executive stakeholders to identify opportunities where data science can improve products, operations, and strategic decision-making.
- Drive the development and deployment of predictive models, machine learning solutions, and advanced analytics initiatives.
- Establish best practices for model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Guide technical teams through project planning, prioritization, and execution while removing obstacles that impact delivery.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure machine learning models are production-ready and scalable.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to executive leadership through compelling storytelling and data visualization.
- Develop roadmaps, delivery plans, timelines, and success metrics for multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Foster collaboration across product, engineering, analytics, and business teams.
- Champion innovation by evaluating emerging AI, machine learning, and analytics technologies that can create competitive advantage.
- Build a culture focused on continuous improvement, technical excellence, and measurable business outcomes.
- Ensure data science initiatives align with regulatory, security, and compliance requirements within a healthcare environment.

What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, advanced analytics, or statistical modeling.
- 5+ years of experience leading and developing technical analytics or data science teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern data science libraries.
- Expertise working with SQL and large-scale cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure.
- Experience building and deploying machine learning models using frameworks such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of MLOps concepts and collaborating with engineering teams to operationalize machine learning solutions.
- Experience creating executive-level dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
