Heat Treat Engineer in SOUTH CAROLINA AREA

HTI is recruiting for an experienced Heat Treat Engineer with a large automotive supplier in Greenville, SC. The company offers competitive benefits and growth opportunities. This is a full-time, direct-hire, salaried position. Relocation assistance is available. Salary depends on education and experience, and the range is approximately $85,000 - $100,000 / year. Working hours are Mon-Fri 8am-5pm.


Job Summary:

Provides production engineering support to Manufacturing for new production lines, with strong emphasis on heat treat processes and technical knowledge.


Job Duties:

  • Perform design and development for heat treat manufacturing processes, including process flow and equipment
  • Provide process engineering skills and technical expertise for process improvement
  • Assist with or and lead root cause analysis of technical issues
  • Perform process analysis for quality improvement, cost reduction, and cycle time reduction
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to the manufacturing team for daily issues and long-term needs
  • Administer process changes in engineering documents as needed
  • Assess spare part problems and makes appropriate changes as approved
  • Prepare new equipment to meet production and quality requirements
  • Perform equipment capability studies, APQP and PFMEA requirements
  • Determine new equipment layout for approval
  • Coordinate or prepare detailed equipment specifications as needed
  • Design, develop and test tooling, fixtures and gauging for manufacturing processes as needed
  • Coordinate and manage new capital/equipment purchases and installations
  • Create engineering reports as required for process development or troubleshooting
  • Project administration for process changes (new products, etc.)
  • Occasional travel as required


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or closely related Engineering field is required
  • Must have 3+ years of Heat Treat Engineering experience within the manufacturing industry, preferably with EMAG/induction heating equipment and processes
  • Automotive supplier experience is a plus
  • Ability to analyze statistical data, strong problem-solving skills
  • Close tolerance measurement experience and strong math skills
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting blueprints, equipment layouts/specifications, and part drawings
  • Experience designing or making changes to existing fixtures for high-volume equipment preferred
  • Capital procurement (CAPEX) or plant/line start-up experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient computer skills, i.e., Excel, Word; recent Solidworks and/or Auto Cad LT strongly preferred
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Safety oriented, knowledge of ergonomics and IATF requirements
  • Ability to work overtime on occasion/when needed during shutdowns or projects
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

  • Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields.
  • Forklift, walkie stacker, and or scissor lift experience preferred.
