Senior AI Architect - Remote, Germany (6-12 Month Freelance/Contract)

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading technology consultancy, is looking to appoint an experienced Senior AI Architect to support the design and delivery of enterprise-scale Artificial Intelligence solutions for a number of high-profile projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing AI practice where you'll work alongside architects, data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative AI solutions that create real business value.

The role is fully remote within Germany, with occasional travel to Munich for client workshops and project collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and enterprise-grade AI solution architectures aligned with business objectives.
• Lead the technical design and implementation of AI and Machine Learning solutions from concept through to production.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Software Developers, and business stakeholders across multiple projects.
• Select and implement the most appropriate AI frameworks, platforms, and technologies, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
• Design and implement robust MLOps pipelines using tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar.
• Deploy AI solutions within Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud environments using native AI services.
• Build scalable data architectures and machine learning pipelines capable of supporting enterprise workloads.
• Ensure AI solutions meet security, governance, Responsible AI, and GDPR compliance requirements.
• Lead technical workshops, architecture discussions, and Proof of Concepts (PoCs) with clients.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and best practice guidance to project teams.
• Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and recommend innovative approaches for client solutions.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in developing technology solutions, including at least 3 years in AI solution architecture.
• Expertise in AI, machine learning, and either Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Computer Vision.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras) and Python libraries (scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy).
• Experience implementing AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and integrating with services such as Data Lake, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.
• Skills in designing data pipelines and automation using tools like Airflow or Step Functions.
• Deep understanding of responsible AI models and ethical considerations in solution deployment.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bilingual (fluent German and English), with strong presentation and knowledge-sharing abilities.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), or AI Agents.
• Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, or similar AI platform experience.
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, or enterprise AI search solutions.
• Microsoft Azure AI or other cloud certifications.
• Previous consulting or client-facing experience.
