MaaSLab is looking for a med-/senior-level Backend Engineer to join the team and contribute to the development of a state-of-the-art on-demand transport platform (the WeeDRIVE) and AI-based data harmonisation engines that are already offered to the citizens of Limassol since the end of 2025, planning to expand to other cities as well. Main Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services written in TypeScript
• Work with message queue / event-driven systems to build and evolve microservice-based architectures
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
• Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and onboarding of team members.
• Be a role model on acting with good judgement and responsibility.
• Up the bar on sustainable engineering by improving best practices, producing best in class of code,
documentation, testing and monitoring.

Essential Qualification Requirements
• BSc or BEng in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.

• 3+ years of related working experience.
• Strong experience with NodeJS and Typescript. Knowledge on the NestJS framework will be considered a plus.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and message queue systems (e.g. RabbitMQ,
Kafka). Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases and RDBMS (e.g. Postgres, MySQL).
• Good understanding of RESTful API design, data modelling, Docker and backend best practices.
• Deep system design skills. You know how to build highly scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant services that support our growth requirements.
• Understanding of distributed systems architecture - consensus, convergence, load balancing, data
consistency and performance/efficiency constructs.
• Proactive attitude, ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.Passion and energy. You bring infectious enthusiasm to all your endeavours. You always perform at your best and drive those around you to do the same. You see new challenges as an opportunity to contribute, make an impact, and grow.
• Exceptional communication, managing and teamwork skills.
• Good working knowledge of English.

• Salary in the range of 40,000 to 60,000 (depending on the CV and seniority).
