The HR Manager at this growing manufacturer will serve as the sole on-site HR leader, responsible for driving authentic employee engagement, developing frontline supervisors, and keeping the plant fully staffed and operating effectively. You'll work hand in hand with plant leadership to shape what real employee engagement looks and feels like, not the corporate checkbox version. The ideal candidate is warm, relatable, and credible on the floor, someone who knows what second and third shift actually feels like and who employees will genuinely trust. This role is based in North Central Wisconsin and our client is happy to provide a small relocation package for the right candidate if needed!
Immediate Opening for an HR Manager who possesses:
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or similar high-volume environment
- A naturally warm, personable communication style with the ability to connect with employees at every level
- Proven ability to operate independently as the sole on-site HR leader with minimal oversight
- Experience coaching frontline supervisors through tough conversations, performance management, and accountability
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance in a non-union environment
- Hands-on experience managing recruiting, onboarding, time and attendance, and employee relations simultaneously
- Proficiency with standard HRIS/payroll platforms and Microsoft Office preferred

Key Responsibilities include:
- Maintain daily, visible floor presence across shifts, building real relationships and staying ahead of workforce challenges before they escalate
- Own all recruiting and staffing for hourly production roles, including management of temporary labor as needed
- Lead onboarding end to end, ensuring new hires are prepared, compliant, and set up for success from day one
- Coach and develop frontline supervisors on performance management, attendance enforcement, and having the tough conversations they've been avoiding
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee relations matters, handling issues directly and with sound judgment
- Manage time and attendance processes daily in partnership with supervisors to maintain accountability across shifts
- Generate and analyze weekly labor and headcount reports in partnership with Operations and Finance to manage costs and improve efficiency
- Drive employee engagement initiatives that feel authentic to the floor, communication, recognition, and plant level events that employees actually care about
- Partner with HR peers across other plant locations to share best practices and ensure consistency
- Support annual HR processes including performance management cycles, employee surveys, and workforce planning
