Job Description
We're looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a growing global payroll team. If you're passionate about payroll, thrive on solving complex challenges, and enjoy working with colleagues across multiple countries and functions, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
In this role, you'll own payroll operations for Portugal while helping shape and improve payroll processes on a global scale. You'll work closely with teams across Finance, Tax, Product, Customer Success and Operations, ensuring employees are paid accurately, compliantly and on time.
What you'll be doing
- Own the end-to-end payroll process for Portugal, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.
- Validate payroll inputs, review calculations and oversee post-payroll activities.
- Stay ahead of legislative, tax and regulatory changes, acting as the payroll expert for Portugal.
- Partner with internal teams and external providers to deliver seamless payroll operations.
- Investigate and resolve payroll queries, discrepancies and compliance risks.
- Help launch and support payroll operations in new or expanding jurisdictions.
- Drive process improvements, standardisation and operational excellence across payroll.
- Maintain clear payroll documentation and support knowledge sharing across the team.
- Collaborate on system enhancements, payroll projects and statutory updates.
- Support the adoption of automation and AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency, scalability and accuracy.
- Participate in payroll testing and implementation projects to ensure successful delivery.

What we're looking for
- Solid experience managing end-to-end payroll in Portugal.
- Previous experience working within international or multi-country payroll environments.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory reporting, compliance and reconciliations.
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across different functions and countries.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with strong written and spoken English.
- Proactive, accountable and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using payroll systems and analysing payroll data.
- Previous experience working remotely or within globally distributed teams is advantageous.
- Additional language skills are a bonus.
