Job Description

If you have a passion for heavy manufacturing and want to make a tangible impact on a brand new, state-of-the-art facility, we want to talk to you.

Job Posting

We are building a brand-new, state-of-the-art flat-rolled manufacturing facility, and we need a talented Level 2 Engineer to join our Hot Mill team. This is a critical, newly created position designed to bring specialized expertise in-house. Instead of relying on external contractors and mill builders, you will be our resident expert, owning the hardware and software for our Level 2 automation systems. If you are a problem solver who understands both complex computer programming and the realities of heavy manufacturing, this is your opportunity to make a foundational impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause investigations on processing defects to determine exactly why a failure occurred and how to prevent it.
  • Take full ownership of maintaining and optimizing the SMS Mill Setup and Cooling Section Control Level 2 systems.
  • Act as the crucial bridge between our Hot Mill operations and the IT department to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Manage critical database and server administration tasks to keep our mill running at peak efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation problems, perform rigorous system tests, and continuously monitor trends from the control room.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • At least two years of hands-on experience with computer programming languages like C, C++, or object-oriented programming such as C#.
  • Solid experience working with communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet/IP, TCP, or UDP.
  • A strong foundation in server administration using Linux or Server 2008.
  • An understanding of metal rolling theory and underlying mill control systems is highly preferred but not strictly required.

Location & Benefits

This position is located in Starkville, Mississippi, home of Mississippi State University and just an hour from the University of Alabama.

We offer a highly competitive compensation package, including a strong base salary, lucrative production and conversion bonuses, profit sharing, and full relocation assistance. If you are ready to take ownership of cutting-edge automation systems and build something from the ground up, apply today and join our team today.
