We're partnering with an ambitious, AI-first technology business to appoint a Head of AI Development & Data Engineering - a rare opportunity to lead the technical direction of a growing AI function while building the platforms, people, and processes that will power the next generation of intelligent products. There is also a Tech Lead AI Engineer - similar to a Head of Engineering with expertise in AI - they have the same JDs but are in different teams.

This is a role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, embraces emerging technologies, and enjoys turning ambitious ideas into production-ready AI solutions.

You'll work at the intersection of AI Engineering, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, Cloud Architecture, and Software Development, collaborating with an exceptional team of engineers, data scientists, and product specialists to build AI systems that create genuine commercial impact.

They have the funding, the ambition and the executive backing; they now need delivery leadership to match.

Key Details:

• Salary & Compensation: $175,000 – $280,000 base salary + annual bonus + healthcare + executive benefits + long-term incentive potential
• Location: 3x HQs including Austin, TX, Miami, FL, and Washington, DC, with hybrid working. Fully remote across the US will also be considered!

• Future Outlook: Stay as Head of Engineering (data &/ AI) or develop into VP of Software Development / Engineering or Architect positions. The team is growing across multiple tech divisions, so there'll be freedom and flexibility to broaden your skill set.

Key Skills & Technology Experience:

• AI Engineering: Strong understanding of modern AI development, LLMs, Generative AI, AI agents, intelligent automation, and enterprise AI applications.
• Cloud Platforms: Experience designing and deploying scalable AI solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, or multi-cloud environments.
• Data Engineering: Proven experience building modern data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, and AI-ready data infrastructure.
• Machine Learning: Strong appreciation of machine learning workflows, model deployment, experimentation, MLOps, and collaboration with Data Science teams.
• Programming: Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern software engineering principles, with exposure to Java, C#, Go, or similar languages beneficial.
• AI Frameworks: Knowledge of technologies such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI, Claude, AWS Bedrock, Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI, or equivalent enterprise AI ecosystems.
• Data Platforms: Experience working with SQL, NoSQL, vector databases, embeddings, RAG architecture, semantic search, and knowledge management platforms.
• Software Engineering: Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, distributed systems, cloud-native development, and scalable application architecture.
• Leadership: Experience leading, mentoring, and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams across AI, Data, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering.
• Innovation: Naturally curious with the ability to identify emerging AI trends, rapidly evaluate new technologies, and bring fresh thinking into engineering roadmaps.
• Delivery: Comfortable working at pace, balancing experimentation with production delivery, and helping teams execute quickly without compromising quality.
• Communication: Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear commercial outcomes.

Role Overview

As Head of AI Development & Data Engineering or Tech Lead AI Engineering you'll lead the design, development, and delivery of modern AI platforms, intelligent applications, and scalable data infrastructure that support the company's long-term growth.

Working across AI Engineering, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, Software Development, and Cloud Architecture, you'll create an environment where innovation moves quickly, collaboration comes naturally, and ideas become production-ready solutions.
