Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO)
Location: San Diego County, CA (Hybrid)
This is not a fully remote position.
Candidates must reside within San Diego County or be willing to relocate. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite 3-4 days per week on an ongoing basis, with 5 days per week onsite during the first 60-90 days to support onboarding, team integration, and organizational assessment.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $300,000 - $350,000

As the company enters its next stage of growth, our client is seeking an experienced Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO) to lead the strategic direction and execution of both Product and Technology functions.
This executive will serve as a key member of the leadership team and will be responsible for product strategy, software engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, scalability, quality assurance, and technology innovation. The ideal candidate possesses a strong blend of business acumen, product vision, organizational leadership, and technical depth.
This role requires a leader who can establish long-term strategy while ensuring disciplined execution and delivery across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership
- Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and help shape company strategy and long-term growth initiatives.
- Partner closely with the CEO and executive team to align product and technology investments with business objectives.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and organizational direction across Product Management, Engineering, QA, Architecture, DevOps, and related functions.
- Build and develop high-performing leadership teams capable of scaling with the organization.

Product Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the company's long-term product vision and roadmap.
- Drive customer-centric product development through deep understanding of market needs, customer feedback, analytics, and industry trends.
- Establish product prioritization frameworks that balance customer value, technical feasibility, and business objectives.
- Lead product planning, roadmap development, and execution across multiple initiatives and product lines.
- Ensure alignment between product strategy and company growth goals.
Technology Strategy & Engineering Leadership
- Establish and execute the company's technology vision and strategy.
- Oversee software architecture, engineering practices, infrastructure, cloud operations, security, reliability, and scalability.
- Ensure the platform remains secure, resilient, performant, and capable of supporting future growth.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, AI opportunities, automation initiatives, and strategic technology investments.
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes, engineering quality, and organizational effectiveness.
Operational Excellence
- Establish metrics, KPIs, and accountability frameworks across Product and Technology organizations.
- Improve execution predictability, release quality, and delivery velocity.
- Implement scalable processes that support growth without sacrificing innovation or agility.
- Partner with Customer Success, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure organizational alignment and successful product adoption.

Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within software and technology organizations.
- 8+ years leading Product and/or Engineering teams in a B2B SaaS environment.
- Proven experience scaling SaaS platforms, teams, and technology organizations.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional organizations including Product Management, Software Engineering, QA, Architecture, and DevOps.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, modern software development methodologies, infrastructure, security, and software delivery practices.
- Experience building, mentoring, and retaining high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication and executive leadership skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading mobile-first SaaS platforms.
- Experience within Construction Technology (ConTech), Field Service Management, Workforce Management, Operations Software, Workflow Automation, or related vertical SaaS markets.
- Experience overseeing both Product and Engineering organizations simultaneously.
- Experience scaling technology organizations through periods of significant growth and transformation.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled products, automation technologies, and data-driven product strategies.
