About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Automation Engineer with expertise in Python programming and network APIs to join our dynamic team. This full-time, remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on enterprise-grade network automation projects that span multi-vendor environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering combined with practical experience in developing automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reliability, and security. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation tools and workflows that streamline network configuration, change management, and observability. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will translate complex requirements into robust automation frameworks, ensuring high standards of quality and performance. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver innovative network solutions and maintain our reputation for excellence in the industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network automation and engineering
  • Proficiency in Python, including object-oriented programming, testing, and packaging
  • Deep understanding of networking fundamentals such as routing, switching, and BGP
  • Hands-on experience with network automation tools like Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, or Scrapli
  • Experience with modern network APIs including NETCONF, RESTCONF, and gNMI
  • Strong knowledge of Ansible and Jinja2 templating for network automation
  • Familiarity with source-of-truth platforms such as NetBox or Nautobot
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop network automation solutions using Python and network APIs
  • Build automation pipelines for configuration management, deployment, and validation across multi-vendor environments
  • Develop integrations with network APIs such as NETCONF, RESTCONF, and gNMI
  • Implement source-of-truth platforms like NetBox or Nautobot to drive automation workflows
  • Create infrastructure-as-code for network configuration management utilizing Ansible, Terraform, and Jinja2
  • Develop network testing and validation scripts using tools like pyATS, Genie, Batfish, and Suzieq
  • Build CI/CD pipelines for network change management, including pre-deployment validation and rollback procedures
  • Develop observability and telemetry pipelines leveraging gNMI and streaming telemetry technologies
  • Implement intent-based networking patterns and self-healing workflows to maintain network health and compliance
  • Automate compliance and audit workflows, generating evidence and verifying adherence to organizational policies
  • Partner with network engineering teams to identify automation opportunities for manual workflows
  • Develop reusable libraries, frameworks, and abstractions to standardize automation efforts
  • Mentor junior engineers on Python development, software engineering best practices, and automation patterns
  • Stay current with industry developments, vendor API updates, and emerging automation tools
