Azure & Active Directory Specialist (Remote Contractor)

About this Role

PBCS Group is looking for an experienced Azure & Active Directory Specialist to support large-scale infrastructure modernization projects for our clients in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Many of these client environments have grown organically over time and require immediate stabilization. Your primary focus will be repairing, optimizing, and modernizing Active Directory environments, ensuring they are stable before we implement advanced cloud, endpoint management, and cybersecurity solutions.

This is a remote contractor position for EU-based professionals, requiring travel to client sites in South Africa roughly once every two months.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and stabilize complex Active Directory environments.
• Resolve issues related to domain controllers, replication, DNS, and authentication.
• Restore and maintain reliable hybrid identity synchronization via Azure AD Connect.
• Clean up AD environments (stale accounts, devices, service accounts, and permissions).
• Review, clean up, and correct Group Policy structures.
• Support integration with enterprise platforms like Microsoft Intune, Netwrix, Lansweeper, and Baramundi.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to prepare identity systems for secure hybrid environments.

Mandatory Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of AD replication, DNS, authentication, and hybrid identity.
• Cloud Identity: Proven experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Azure AD Connect.
• Scripting: Solid PowerShell skills for troubleshooting and automation.
• Certifications: Microsoft certifications (Azure, Identity, or Windows Server) are required.
