Purpose of the role

The BIT (Business, Infrastructure and Technology) Manager reports to the Deputy CEO and owns IT

In-country: Zambia. From infrastructure, security, support, and the people who keep it running. When this role is working, every branch is online, every client gets served, and Unifi’s systems are secure, stable, and ready to scale. You maintain and execute Unifi’s IT standards on the ground, hands-on, dependable, and solutions-driven. This is an exciting expatriate or relocation opportunity based full-time in Zambia, designed for a dependable, solutions-driven leader ready to make a direct impact.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations across branches in-country, ensuring the frontline stays online and able to serve clients effectively
  • Own IT infrastructure end-to-end (LAN, WAN, VPN, and SD-WAN) keeping it resilient, secure, and performing at the standard Unifi’s frontline demands
  • Manage, upskill and help solve escalated technical issues when local teams are stuck
  • Keep cybersecurity tight; manage endpoint protection, firewalls, and threat detection; and make sure Unifi and its clients stay safe
  • Ensure in-country data protection- guidelines and Unifi’s standards are well-maintained and documented
  • Lead IT projects, rollouts, and migrations, on time, on budget, and with minimal disruption to branches and the broader Unifi community
  • Manage ISP and vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and make sure Unifi always gets value for what it spends
  • Own the country IT budget, plan it carefully, spend it wisely, and report on it with transparency
  • Question the status quo and stay curious about if there is a better way to do something, find it, test it, and make the case for it
  • Lead, mentor and develop the IT team; build capability; set stretch goals; and make sure the team is set up to win with no point of failure
  • Lead by example through living the Unifi values, in every decision, interaction, and system you build
  • Make Unifi a fun place to work!

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 8-10 years of IT experience, including multi-site or regional exposure
  • Strong networking knowledge: routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and SD-WAN
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise security tools including EDR, SIEM, and IAM platforms
  • Relevant certifications advantageous: Fortinet NSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, ITIL, or CISSP
  • Vendor and contract management experience across multiple jurisdictions
  • Client-first mindset, solutions-focused: you arrive with options, communicate with clarity, and never let uncertainty become an excuse
  • Resilient, resourceful and humble leadership, with a hands-on approach and no ego about the details
  • Calm and accountable under pressure: when things break, you own it, communicate clearly, and get it fixed
  • Willing and able to travel across the country as required
