Software Support Engineer in SPAIN

We are looking for two Software Support Engineers, to work on activities related to web applications, databases and solutions using Microsoft technologies.

The work that can be performed ideally from our Madrid office, or from any of our other Starion premises, like Rome (IT) or Leiden (NL).

We are hiring one junior person (with a first experience in the required domain) and one Intermediate person (with at least 5 years of experience in the required domain).

The main objective will be to keep incident management with relevant experience in database analysis, pre-production and production monitoring, scripting, tools administration and debugging. Conduct first investigations on bugs and defects in relation to end users. The size of the whole support team will be around 4 people, working from different countries.

ITER (“The Way” in Latin) is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today, located in southern France, with 35 nations collaborating to build the world’s largest system to prove the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy based on the same principle that powers our Sun and stars.

The service is defined with a mix of on-site and off-site positions, to cover in-house software design, development, testing and deployment of various in-house developed applications and a central database containing all the ITER project-related data (e.g. System Components, Manufacturing, Engineering Diagrams and Drawings).

The complexity of the several tools and types of data used by ITER requires careful integration and management of the data, using Microsoft database web applications, BPM tools and a broad range of technologies.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

• Monitor the Queue Service and Incident tickets (total volume around 20 tickets per week).
• Resolve issues following IT processes and SLA.
• Contact with End Users and stakeholders on a daily basis.
• Monitor system Status and Event logs in Splunk / Mails / Dashboards.
• Create a dashboard and raise alerts in case of issues.
• Collaboration with IT Operation services to fix anomalies.
• Create and run scripts on Production and Pre-production Databases as post-deployment activities.
• Patches Development and deployment for production environments, collaborating with the SW development team.
• Configure and adapt existing applications for users.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

• University Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a relevant field.
• Experience in several of the following technologies and tools: Angular, VB.Net, Asp.Net, C#, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
• Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

• Experience in Agile environment, working with heterogeneous and international teams, estimating and defining user stories.
• Proven experience with testing services for web applications and solutions.
• Experience with integrating SW Solutions with APIs of commercial applications (e.g. SAP, Primavera, COBRA, SmartPlant, Cleopatra.
• Proven experience with Mobile applications and solutions using Flutter.
