What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services crucial for the manufacturing and deployment phases of Altius.
  • Collaborate with engineers, program managers, flight test engineers, and end-users to define software architectures, configuration processes, and user experience workflows for Altius.
  • Utilize frontend technologies such as TypeScript, React, and PySide, as well as backend technologies like Go, Python, and Rust, alongside software lifecycle tools such as NixOS, CircleCI, and Docker.
  • Engage with engineers across various domains, from low-level drivers to cutting-edge autonomy and user interfaces.
  • Conduct thorough software testing and evaluation using simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets.

Core Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with multiple programming languages, such as Go, Python, Rust, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with customers to deliver innovative software capabilities.
  • Desire to contribute to the development of tools used by technicians, engineers, and operators in preparing systems for real-world missions.
  • Proficiency in building user interfaces using popular frontend frameworks like React and PySide.
  • Strong dedication to user experience and the delivery of streamlined products.
  • Ability to solve complex problems involving multiple technologies related to simulation, data management, compute infrastructure, networking, and more.
  • Enjoy collaborating with autonomy domain team members and partners, developing technologies and processes to facilitate the deployment of systems at scale.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export controlled information.

Desired Requirements

  • Demonstrated innovation through app, website, game, or startup creation.
  • Previous experience in an engineering environment such as a startup or engineering school.
  • Professional experience with software development lifecycle tools like version control, CI/CD systems, etc.
  • Deep understanding of computer and network operations, from desktops to cloud nodes (UDP, TCP, gRPC, REST, etc.).
  • Experience establishing infrastructure for robots or other complex embedded devices.
  • Background in developing scalable backend software systems with diverse data storage and processing requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), CI/CD tools, and software infrastructure fundamentals (networking, security, distributed systems).
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex systems and established code bases.
  • Experience with modern build and deployment tooling (e.g., CircleCI, Docker, NixOS, Terraform).
  • Proficiency in designing complex software systems and iterating designs through technical design review processes.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard monitoring, logging, and data management tools and best practices.
  • Bias towards rapid delivery and iteration.

US Salary Range

$117,300—$214,200 USD
