Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to be based in New Orleans, LA.

This position is expected to begin in May 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Builds analytic and design skills.
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • BA/BS and 2 years of engineering experience with steel and concrete structures; and/or wave, hydrodynamic, or coastal background or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PE in Civil Structural Field
  • PhD in Civil Engineering or a similar field, preferably degree focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Familiar with Civil engineering design principals, steel and concrete design codes and standards. Ideally candidate has the wave, hydrodynamic, or coastal background.
  • Prior design experience with steel and concrete structures.
  • Solid knowledge in performing Finite Element analysis, nonlinear analysis, impact modeling, fluid-structural interaction analysis, seismic design, coastal design using computer software such as SAP2000, Etabs, ABAQUS.
  • Proficiency in Engineering drafting tools, including AutoCAD, Revit.
  • Ideally understanding the pioneer Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and coding languages including Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, Kotlin and apply in problem resolution.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Actively participate in local professional group such as ASCE student chapter.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team environment.

Additional Information
  • Relocation assistance is available for this position.
  • Offered rate of compensation ( Louisiana locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $61,000 - $93,000/yr .
