About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Manual QA Engineer on behalf of one of our trusted clients to support their growing development team.
In this role, you will enhance testing coverage and improve software quality by conducting hands-on manual black-box testing of web-based applications, working closely with developers and QA peers.
Please note: This role requires availability to work in Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours, including support for monthly release windows that may extend into late afternoon/early evening PST.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough manual black-box testing across web and UI layers of a SaaS application.
- Test new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to detect defects early.
- Collaborate with developers and QA team members to clarify requirements and expected behavior.
- Provide clear and detailed defect reports, along with daily status updates.
- Participate in release testing, including monthly release windows that may extend into late afternoon/early evening (PST).
- Validate fixes and perform regression testing to ensure production stability.
- Contribute to test planning and coverage discussions to continuously improve product quality.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA experience, with a strong focus on manual testing.
- Proven experience testing web-based / SaaS applications.
- Proficient in manual black-box testing.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test case design, and defect lifecycle.
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with performance or load testing tools (e.g., Apache JMeter or similar).
- Some exposure to test automation (not required).
- Familiarity with regulated environments (Healthcare, HIPAA, PHI, FHIR/HL7).
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams.
- Prior collaboration with distributed or offshore teams.
Important Notes
- This is primarily a manual testing role; automation is not the focus.
- Performance testing experience is preferred over functional automation.
- Candidates with mainly desktop/client-installed testing backgrounds are not a fit.
- Web/UI testing experience in high-change environments is critical.
