Senior Front End Developer

Front End Developer (Part-Time >> Full Time in January)

Location: Full Time in Portland, Maine (On-site only)

UniteGPS develops software that powers school transportation operations across North America, including routing, GPS tracking, turn-by-turn navigation, and student ridership management. We are looking for a Front End Developer to help us improve and expand our Crosswalk platform and related transportation tools.

We are hiring several part-time developers immediately to work with our team remotely through the next month. This short-term evaluation period will lead to one or more full-time positions beginning in January. The full-time role will require working on-site at our office in Portland, Maine.

We are a small, fast-moving team that values ownership, initiative, and curiosity. We need someone who notices issues, solves them, and looks for ways to make things better without waiting for direction.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain front-end features using PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL
• Improve and refine user interfaces for clarity, speed, and reliability
• Work with the product team to implement data visualization and mapping tools
• Identify and fix bugs or inefficiencies proactively
• Contribute ideas to improve workflow, performance, and overall product quality

Qualifications:

• Strong experience with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL
• Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
• Comfortable using Git and collaborative development tools
• A self-starter with strong problem-solving instincts and attention to detail

Details:

• Part-time position, approximately 20 - 25 hours per week
• On-site in Portland, Maine (not remote)
