POSITION PURPOSE
The Human Resources Analyst-Benefits supports SSAB’s strategic and operational human resources functions by benefit administration, recruitment, employee relations and compliance reporting. The role ensures effective talent acquisition, fosters positive employee experiences, maintains regulatory compliance and collaborates across departments to align HR practices with organizational goals.
Benefits
Benefits administration: Oversee the day-to-day administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and flexible spending accounts.
Employee support: Serve as the primary point of contact for questions regarding benefits enrollment, plan provisions, claims issues, and life status changes.
Open enrollment: Coordinate and support the annual open enrollment process, including developing communication materials and updating system information.
Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
Leave of absence management: Administer leave of absence requests in compliance with regulations like the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Vendor relations: Liaise with insurance carriers, brokers, and other third-party administrators to manage plan operations and resolve service issues.
Reporting and analysis: Perform quality checks and data audits to ensure benefits data accuracy. Track trends and costs and prepare reports for management.
Recruitment
Lead and management recruitment programs, policies and procedures.
Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain talent.
Coordinate all phases of the hiring process, including job postings, interviews, and final selections.
Collaborate with hiring managers and external agencies to meet staffing needs.
Manages vendor relationships that support recruiting
Ensure compliance with background checks, medical assessment, benefit enrollment and workflow approvals.
Partnering with Procurement and Legal departments for execution process of all staffing agency contracts that each site will utilize.
Setup and facilitation of relocation for new, transferring, and co-op/intern employees, at any SSAB site within the US.
Works closely with recruiting in other locations to share best practices, provide assistance on critical needs and coordinate on global human resource initiatives.
Drafts and publicizes recruitment efforts in appropriate and relevant places that may include online sources such as LinkedIn, Indeed, social media platforms, Handshake and other platforms.
Coordinates offboarding process and required steps assigned locations.
Employee Relations
Resolve workplace issues and recommend improvements.
Communicates HR policies, procedures and legal standards.
Advise employees on benefit plans and policy decisions.
Ensure policy compliance and transparency across SSAB locations.
Support managers with HR guidance and tactical solutions.
Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints and harassment allegations.
Works with employees to resolve any issues that arise, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement.
Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
Utilizes knowledge of various human resources functions to provide tactical support to line managers.
Qualifications
Strong day to day benefit administration background, medical, disability, life and voluntary benefits.
Experience in Talent Management and Employee Relations/Engagement
Excellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of Dayforce and/or Oracle HRIS systems
Education And Experience
BS Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR experience including benefit administration, recruitment and employee relations.
Preferred
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification
- Experience in manufacturing environment
