What You Will Do

This position will be filled at the HR Generalist 1/2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Human Resources Generalist 1 ($64,700- $101,400)

Position requires an entry-level professional who is familiar with and has demonstrated experience applying Human Resources knowledge and best practices in a professional setting. At the HR Generalist 1 level, the selected candidate will advise stakeholders on HR policies and procedures, complete a wide array of personnel actions, and provide support and coaching on common and moderately complex HR issues.

Human Resources Generalist 2 ($78,700- $125,100)

Position requires an experienced and skilled professional who has specialized experience within the Human Resources field and can apply knowledge and best practices across a complex organization. At the HR Generalist 2 level, the selected candidate will have a full understanding of HR core competencies and the capacity to resolve a wide range of complex HR issues. In addition to the duties and expectations of Human Resources Generalist 1, the candidate will also have the ability lead process improvement initiatives, mentor junior staff, and partner with all HR Functions to execute Lab-wide HR initiatives at the division and group level.

What You Will Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

HR Business Acumen

Basic working knowledge of HR theories, principles, and practices. Demonstrated experience advising stakeholders on human resources policies and procedures, completing HR actions such as personnel actions, salary actions, terminations, and/or dealing with employee relations issues. Evidence of providing guidance to customers in areas such as workforce planning, compensation, benefits, employee relations, training, etc. through effectively interpreting and applying HR policy and procedures.

Technical Expertise

Demonstrated experience with HR systems (i.e. Oracle, People Soft, etc.) and databases (i.e. Microsoft Excel) to accurately input information and retrieve, organize and report HR data and metrics.

Relationship Management

Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully and proactively work with customers to understand their business needs and drivers, resolve issues, and apply policy and procedure to successfully achieve business goals. Ability to effectively coach and provide training to a broad audience.

Ethical Practice

Direct experience maintaining confidentiality and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) throughout daily operations.

Planning and Prioritization

Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of assignments, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, meet strict deadlines, and multi-task in a detail-oriented and fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience at HR Generalist 1 level:

Position requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Additional requirements for the HR Generalist level 2:

HR Business Acumen

Specialized knowledge of HR theories, principles, and understanding of HR as an interrelated system of functional operations. Significant experience completing HR actions.

Leadership

Demonstrated capacity to mentor junior staff, roll out and manage HR process improvement initiatives and ability to build networks across functional and organizational boundaries.

Education/Experience at HR Generalist 2 level:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A relevant HR certification is preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge of organization and business as well as knowledge of LANL organizational structure, mission and goals.
  • Active DOE Q clearance.

Work Environment

Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in . Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
