Who we are?

The pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) brings together provincial, territorial, and federal governments for the purpose of increasing and managing access to clinically relevant and cost-effective medicines. Through collective negotiations, the pCPA has realized overall savings (as of April 1, 2025) for governments of $3.94 billion annually for brand name drugs and $935 million annually for generic drugs totaling $4.87 billion annually. The pCPA offers a 100% remote (within Canada) work environment.  


About the role 

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Project Management and IT Support specialist with essential IT helpdesk and operations support duties at the pCPA to ensure successful and timely delivery to meet the organization’s core business goals and priorities.


Reporting to the director, Infrastructure and Projects, this role is key to driving project success across departments, supporting operational excellence initiatives, and ensuring smooth, first-line IT support for our internal teams in a remote environment. 


The ideal candidate holds a college diploma or bachelor’s degree in project management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field and has 5+ years of relevant experience in project management and IT support roles.

Key responsibilities

Project management support

• Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of multiple cross-departmental projects.

• Maintain and update project trackers, progress reports, risk logs, issue logs, and budget spreadsheets.

• Coordinate and lead project meetings; draft agendas, document detailed meeting minutes, record action items, and ensure follow-up execution.

• Drive operational improvements by identifying gaps and recommending enhancements to workflows, tools, and procedures.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, map, and streamline inefficient processes.

• Manage project documentation repositories using platforms like SharePoint or Microsoft Teams.

• Participate in post-project reviews and lessons-learned sessions to capture improvement opportunities.

• Assist with report preparation for executive leadership, including project health updates and dashboard summaries.

IT support and operations

• Provide internal IT support requests, Tier 1 troubleshooting for hardware, software, connectivity, and account access issues.

• Support user account management activities, including password resets, group assignments, and permissions management in Microsoft 365.

• Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of employees, ensuring provisioning of devices, licenses, and system access.

• Support device management and compliance activities using remote management tools (e.g., Intune, RMM Tools).

• Maintain IT asset inventories for hardware, software licenses, and accessories.

• Provide basic administration support for cloud applications, including SharePoint, Teams, and Exchange Online.

• Document frequent issues, resolutions, and standard troubleshooting procedures in our knowledge base.

• Escalate complex incidents to appropriate Tier 2/Tier 3 support or external vendors when necessary.

• Assist with cybersecurity awareness initiatives, basic endpoint monitoring, and ensuring systems meet baseline compliance standards.

• Accountable to the director, Infrastructure and Projects.  


Qualifications

Education and experience

• College Diploma or bachelor’s degree in project management, information technology, business administration, or a related field.

• 5+ years of relevant experience in project management and IT support roles.

• Project Management certification (e.g., CAPM, PMP, Agile/Scrum training) is strongly preferred.

• IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals are considered assets.

• Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, or low-code automation platforms (mandatory).

• Exposure to cybersecurity principles or participation in a security awareness program (asset).

• Experience supporting remote workforces and optimizing virtual collaboration environments (asset).

• Background working in organizations with compliance or regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) (asset).

• Familiarity with SIPOC diagrams, process mapping, or workflow analysis (asset).


Specialized Knowledge

Project management skills

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask across multiple concurrent projects.

• Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.

• Proven ability to coordinate meetings, manage deliverables, and enforce accountability across teams.

• Demonstrated experience maintaining project schedules, budgets, and compliance records.

• Experience developing and maintaining process documentation and SOPs.

• Exposure to process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is an asset.

IT support skills

• Basic troubleshooting skills for Windows laptops, mobile devices (iOS/Android), and peripheral devices.

• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 cloud services including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and OneDrive.

• Knowledge of remote support platforms and device management systems (e.g., Intune, Pulseway, TeamViewer).

• Familiarity with identity and access management concepts (e.g., MFA, Conditional Access Policies).

• Exposure to endpoint security tools (e.g., antivirus, EDR solutions like Bitdefender or Crowdstrike).

• Ability to translate technical information into easy-to-understand guidance for end-users.

Software knowledge

• Project Management Tools: Asana, Trello, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Monday.com.

• ITSM / Ticketing Systems: Zendesk, Freshservice, Zoho Desk, ServiceNow.

• Microsoft 365 Suite: SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, Planner, Power Automate (basic familiarity is a plus).

• Remote Support & Device Management: Microsoft Intune, RMM Tools, TeamViewer.

Skills and abilities

• As English is the primary working language at the pCPA, exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English are required. 

• Effective written and verbal communication skills in French (asset)  

• Comfortable taking a leading role in meetings and driving tasks to completion.

• Detail-oriented, with strong skills in documentation and record-keeping.

• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a service-first attitude.

• Strong time management skills, capable of operating autonomously in a remote-first environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence without direct authority.

• A commitment to continuous learning in both project management and IT fields.

 

Employment terms 

• The hiring salary range for this full-time permanent position is $94,900 - $116,300. This range reflects the salary for candidates with varying experience levels, job knowledge, and qualifications relevant to the position. Specific offers will be based on individual backgrounds and qualifications.  

• The pCPA provides employees with a comprehensive group benefits package from the first day of employment. 

• The ideal candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada and can work from any location within Canada.

• This position requires frequent travel to different provinces and territories, including periodic multi-day, overnight trips.
