Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled
Data Specialist _
Snowflake Database Administrator in our
Caterpillar Information Technology team. In order to lead the development and implementation of the Global Finance Data Platform, the team is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join their dynamic, high-performing team. Through the creation of platforms that enable data to be brought to modernized data platforms on AWS & Snowflake, this team is playing a crucial part in changing our mindset to using data as an enterprise asset.

What You Will Do
Job Roles and Responsibilities
- The primary responsibility would be performing a vital role in transforming our mindset to using data as an enterprise asset by enabling platforms that bring data to modernized data platform on AWS & Snowflake.
- Incumbent would play central critical role for identifying performing core database administration for Snowflake environment, build automation to optimize the environment, build pipelines to define metrics related to all things snowflake and be key central point of contact for Snowflake within the organization.
Candidates Will Have:
- Should have minimum 3 years relevant experience into MS SQL or Snowflake as DBA.
- Actively work with MS SQL or Snowflake support for raising support tickets and triaging outages.
- Implement/support automation for production deployment in Snowflake.
- Good understanding of MS SQL or Snowflake tools
- Develop, build & maintain mission critical centralized data platform using SQL/Snowflake.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot SQL/Snowflake database errors.
- Implement Snowflake user /query log analysis and alerts.
- Support heterogeneous user groups from data engineers to data scientists.
- Implement data encryption/decryption/masking policies to protect PII/PCI data
- Implement security roles and role based policies.
- Derive system metrics for consumption and utilization.
- Demonstrated proficiency of index design, query plan optimization and analysis required
- Build User security auditing.
- Create Snowflake utilization and capacity plan.
- Provide technical leadership, fosters a team environment, and provides mentorship and feedback to technical resources. User onboarding and
- On-call responsibilities on rotational basis for Snowflake database administration.
- Should be able to review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time
- Develop processes for optimizing database security.
- Set and maintain database standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
- Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
- Create automation for repeating database tasks.
- Database Administrator Skills and Qualifications: Proficient in writing complex SQL queries
- Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
- Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure)
Education And Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in database administration, database architecture, or a related field(mandate)
- Database Administration / Database related certifications preferred.
- Extensive experience with database technologies (Snowflake/Teradata/ Big Query/SQL Server/MongoDB)

- Carries out tasks, under supervision, to increase capacity or add capabilities through cloud computing.
- Documents and resolves basic problems related to cloud security.
