About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Staff Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join our Simulation and Testing organization. In this pivotal role, you will lead the strategic development and execution of simulation-based validation efforts for autonomous vehicle systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding a team of engineers to define best practices, develop innovative testing methodologies, and ensure the robustness of autonomous systems in complex simulated environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of autonomous vehicle validation, influence technical roadmaps, and drive advancements in simulation technologies to meet safety and performance standards. The role requires a combination of technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and strategic vision to ensure our simulation capabilities remain at the forefront of the industry.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of extensive experience in simulation and testing, preferably within the autonomous vehicle domain.
  • Proven track record in developing or testing large-scale Machine Learning (ML) systems, with a strong understanding of simulation platforms and methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision-Language Models (VLMs), or similar technologies for production workflows.
  • Experience with the entire machine learning lifecycle, including data generation, model training, and deployment.
  • Expertise in implementing robust validation methods, defining relevant metrics, and correlating simulation performance with real-world behavior.
  • Strong software engineering skills in programming languages relevant to simulation and testing.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities, with a passion for innovation in autonomous technology.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and implementation of simulation-based validation strategies to ensure safety and performance metrics are achieved.

  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Define and develop sophisticated validation methods and evaluation strategies within simulation frameworks, including the creation of challenging test scenarios and large-scale analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with autonomous system development teams to integrate simulation testing seamlessly into the overall development process.
  • Influence technical roadmaps and strategic priorities, aligning simulation efforts with company objectives and product milestones.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and incorporate innovative simulation methodologies to enhance validation capabilities.
  • Ensure the simulation environment accurately models real-world scenarios to facilitate reliable validation and testing.
